Apartment Building

Fiorano al Serio, Italy, 1988

Design proposal. The site of this six-units apartment building presented particular challenges, specifically, the narrowness of the site and the extreme sloped terrain. The only vehicular access, located at the back from the exposed side of the building left no choices; a required car parking garage had to be located on the roof of the building and a vertical connection established to the three stories below. A glazed roof spans the width of the garage floor. The brick exterior facades of the building relate to the materials used in the surrounding built environment.
